MacSPIRS v2.41 Software Installation Guide ----------------------------------------- 1. Double-click on the Installer icon in the MacSPIRS 2.41 Installer folder. 2. Identify the location and name of the new application and click Save. 3. Select the type of installation you want to perform. * Select Full Installation to install a new MacSPIRS application or to replace a previous version of MacSPIRS. * Select Reconfigure Installed Application to change the software options of an existing MacSPIRS application. * Select Preconfigure Defaults to set ERL (Electronic Reference Library) login options. This modifies the Installer for future installations. 4. If you are performing a Full Installation, select the type of code you want to install. * Select FAT binary to install a version of MacSPIRS that will run as a native application on either a 68K or PowerPC machine. * Select 68K for the 68K version of MacSPIRS. This version will also run under emulation on a PowerPC machine, however, performance may be slower. * Select Native PPC Only for the PowerPC version of MacSPIRS. 5. If you chose the ERL Client Only of Both (ERL Client and standalone) application type in step 3, you can add, edit or delete ERL server addresses. * To add a server address: * Click Add Server. * Enter the Server's IP address or host name in the Add Server dialog box. * Click OK. * To edit a server address: * If necessary, click Next to display the server address you want to edit. * Click Edit. * Modify the server's IP address or host name in the Edit Server dialog box. * Click OK in the Edit Server dialog box. * To delete a server address: * If necessary, click Next to display the server address you want to delete. * Click Delete Server. * Click OK in the Delete Server dialog box. 6. Click OK in the Application Type dialog box to continue the installation. 7. Select the software options that you want to apply to the application and click OK. 8. Run MacSPIRS by double-clicking on the new or modified application icon.
